Honeoye girls basketball recognized for its sportsmanship

Bulldogs are named winner of annual Carolyn and Jack Foote Award

March 23, 2026
The Honeoye girls basketball team was honored for its sportsmanship during the season with the Carolyn and Jack Foote Sportsmanship Award.
Congratulations to the Honeoye girls varsity basketball team, which was recognized recently for its exemplary sportsmanship during the 2025-26 season.

The Bulldogs were named winners of the Carolyn and Jack Foote Sportsmanship Award, which is presented annually by Central Western Girls Basketball Officials (C.W.G.B.O.). The award is given to teams that demonstrate exceptional character, respect and dignity on the court and is voted on by basketball game officials who observe the players, coaches and fan conduct throughout the season.

Schools are ranked in each category on a scale of 1 to 10 and Honeoye’s overall rating was 9.5.
The award is given to six Section V schools each year and Honeoye was chosen as the Finger Lakes representative. Coach Sara Tompkins accepted the sportsmanship award banner during halftime of the Section V Class A girls championship on March 7 at Finger Lakes CC.

The Carolyn and Jack Foote Sportsmanship Award has been awarded annually for more than 20 years and honors the memories of Jack, a basketball official, executive board member and president, and Carolyn, who handled game assignments and behind-the-scenes work.

Congratulations to our girls basketball team for representing the Bulldog community with class and pride!
