Capital Improvement Project
Capital Improvement Project
- Roof: The portion above the Middle School and District Office is nearly complete, and work has now moved to the area above the Music Department rooms. The roof above the canopies will likely be completed last to help minimize noise and disruption above classrooms.
- Playground: The playground itself is complete! Site contractors are finishing the curbing and mulch, sidewalks on both sides, the gazebo, and the half basketball court.
- Covered Entrances: The covered entrances are being fine graded in preparation for the concrete walkways. While the canopies may not be fully complete by the start of school, the entrances should still be accessible, as the sidewalks are expected to be finished.
- Elementary Gym: The floor is currently being sanded and restriped and remains on schedule to be ready for the opening of school.
- High School Gym: The flooring is being leveled, and the wood is expected to arrive by Monday. The gym is still on schedule to reopen in early October.
- Bus Garage: While we are still waiting on the ductwork, the fuel tank has been installed and the masonry work is also nearing completion.
- New Lighting: We are still waiting for final SED approval. Once received, the remaining lighting throughout the building will be completed during the second shift.
- Mezzanine: Installation of the air handlers in the mezzanine is nearing completion.
- Clocks: All of the new clocks have been installed and are currently being programmed. The openings left from the old clocks and speakers are still awaiting covers. We are aiming to have everything completed before the start of school, though the work may extend beyond that.

Update February 2025
We are pleased to provide an update on our capital improvement project. We have successfully completed the Schematic Design phase, which outlines the overall vision and layout of the project, as well as the Design Development stage, where we refine the details and ensure all aspects align with our educational goals. The next steps involve preparing the Construction Documents, which will provide the detailed plans necessary for the construction team, followed by submitting these documents to the State Education Department (SED) for approval. Throughout this process, we are committed to upholding rigorous quality management standards to ensure that every aspect of the project meets our high expectations. A community meeting will be scheduled soon to gather input prior to making design decisions for the new playground. Thank you for your continued support as we transform our facilities into spaces that will better serve our students and help build a brighter future.
2024 CIP Vote Date Established
The Honeoye Central School District Board of Education passed a resolution during a Special Meeting of the Board on 1/31: A Special Meeting of the qualified voters of the Honeoye Central School District will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the Honeoye Central School, 8528 Main Street, Honeoye, New York, in the Auditorium Foyer on which date and at which place the polls shall be open between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., local time, for the purpose of voting on the propositions described.
2024 CIP Scope of Work
BOE member Tori Penrod-Clark shared the following statement, which captures the essence of the 2024 CIP proposal which will be put before voters on March 26:
We moved forward with a fiscally responsible, higher bond ratio, 95 % aidable plan, and no impact to tax payers. We decided to focus the project on a majority of the priorities founded in the BCS. The playground remained a not-negotiable. The covered entrances remain. The track and fitness center will not be part of the vote. With the plan we have come up with there is potential to go out on another project in 3-5 years. We decided to be proactive and attempt to keep prices down, this project needs to happen as close to the original timeline we set out on, realizing the dates are already being pushed back because of the no vote in December.
As stated above, the 2024 Capital Improvement Project proposal reflects a project which focuses on noted Building Condition Survey deficiencies, facility upkeep & efficiencies, safety, health & wellness.
