Congratulations to the 10 Honeoye students who were formally inducted as the newest members of the National Honor Society on Tuesday night.
The Onagadeca Chapter of NHS welcomed Juliana B., Otto G., Naomi G., Audi H., Seth O., Ava P.-K., Cypress R., Kevin S., James S. and Levi W. during a 30-minute ceremony at HCS. Mr. Bunce, Honeoye’s U.S. History and Government/Economics teacher and advisor to the Honeoye NHS, welcomed family and friends to the ceremony before current NHS members explained the four NHS pillars of Scholarship, Service, Leadership and Character.
The new inductees were introduced by current NHS members, who highlighted accomplishments by the new members that included academic work and community efforts that included participation in athletics, music and arts, volunteer work and employment. This year’s class includes members who are captains of sports teams, scholar athletes, Section V champions, All-County musicians, members of MasterMinds, Youth to Youth, Class Officers and helped with Red Cross blood drives, Election Day dinners and much more.
The new members then took the NHS pledge before lighting their candles, which symbolizes spreading the Flame of Knowledge, before concluding the ceremony with refreshments.
Congratulations to our new members of the National Honor Society!
