Senior Marley Frick brings student voice to Board of Education

January 20, 2026
Marley Frick is Honeoye's Ex-Oficio Student Board member with the district Board of Education.
Marley Frick received some advice and couldn’t be happier about taking it.

As Honeoye Central School District’s Ex-Officio Student Board member with the District Board of Education, the senior has learned more than she thought she would and opened doors that she didn’t know existed.

“I was nervous at first,” she said. “But everyone on the board has been super nice so it’s been a great experience.”

Serving as the connection between Honeoye students and the Board of Education, Marley has been able to take ideas from classmates to the board. She’s also witnessed the board “in action” to learn more about the process of how ideas and suggestions are put into action. She’s optimistic about some of the plans, even if they don’t come to fruition before she graduates in June. Knowing she was part of a process that may improve the educational experience for future Honeoye students is reward enough.

It started for Marley following a discussion with Isabella N., the Ex-Officio Student Board member in 2024-25 who encouraged Marley to apply for the position. And while she’s busy at times with soccer in the fall and cheer in the winter in addition to responsibilities with the French Club and National Honor Society among others, it’s been worth every moment.

“The board’s been very open to a lot of things,” she said. “They include me in conversations ... so it’s a lot different than I thought it would be. They’re excited to connect with the students.”

Marley plans to attend the University at Buffalo following graduation to study pharmacy. Until then, she plans to enjoy her experience as a student representative and take the lessons it offers beyond Honeoye.

“Marley is the fourth Ex-Officio Student Board Member that Honeoye Central's Board of Education has had the opportunity to work with. She's doing a great job!,” said Tori Penrod-Clark, President of the Honeoye Board of Education. “It's been a very beneficial and positive experience. We appreciate Marley being the student voice at our table. We're all ears when she presents and look forward to continuing to build unity throughout the district with her.”
