Honeoye students thrive in NYS test rankings among area districts

Honeoye students fare well in NYS test rankings.
When it comes to math and science, Honeoye students are No. 1.

And the rest of the subjects aren’t all that bad, either.

The New York State testing results from the 2024-25 school year are in and Honeoye Central School District saw seven subject areas rank in the top 5 among Wayne-Finger Lakes Region districts. In three subject areas, Honeoye had the highest proficiency rate in the W-FL Region, which covers 25 school districts.

  • Math (Grade 8): 1
  • Regents Earth and Space Science: 1
  • Math (Grade 6): 1
  • Regents Chemistry: 5
  • ELA (Grade 8): 5
  • Regents Life Science Biology: 4
  • Science (Grade 8): 2

“This achievement speaks volumes about the professionalism of our teachers and their use of thoughtful analysis to guide instruction,” said HCS Secondary Principal Nathan Schneckenburger. “By closely monitoring student progress and responding to individual needs, our teachers created the conditions for success, and our students rose to the challenge with effort, perseverance and pride in their learning.”

The Wayne-Finger Lakes Region includes 25 school districts, 11 in Wayne County, 9 in Ontario County, 3 in Seneca County and 2 in Yates County. The districts are as follows: Bloomfield, Canandaigua, Clyde-Savannah, Dundee, Gananda, Geneva, Marcus Whitman, Honeoye, Lyons, Red Jacket, Marion, Naples, Newark, North Rose-Wolcott, Palmyra-Macedon, Penn Yan, Midlakes, Red Creek, Romulus, Seneca Falls, Sodus, Victor, Waterloo, Wayne and Williamson.
