Capital Improvement Project: Next Steps Good Morning,HCS Capital Improvement Project Proposition Defeated The HCS CIP Proposition was defeated by 13 votes during a Capital Project Special Vote on 12/12/2023. The district would like to offer thanks to the HCS community for coming out and expressing their voice about the Capital Improvement Project proposal put before the voters. Results for Voter Proposition One: Capital Improvement Project Total Votes: 527 "Yes" votes: 257 (48.8% approval rating) "No" votes: 270 (51.2% disapproval rating) The HCS Board of Education officially accepted the Capital Improvement Project vote results during a Regular Meeting of the Board on December 13. Next Steps in CIPThe district fully intends to develop and put forth a subsequent CIP proposal to voters. Next steps in the prereferendum process include, but are not limited to, the following: Review Voter Exit Survey Data Consult with legal around parameters for revote ☑ Meet with Architect and CIP Committee early in January 2024 to consider totality of information and to develop action items moving forward Provide updates to BOE Send new project scope/budget to Financial Advisor and Legal Recommend new referendum vote date and related timeline Proceed with “Take 2” Pre Referendum phase of process As always, if you have any questions about this information or otherwise, please feel free to reach out.
