While blustery and cold this morning, it certainly has shaped up to be a lovely winter day with blue skies and the sun brilliantly shining!I am reaching out to the HCS community with two COVID related updates specific to the following this afternoon: COVID Rapid Test Kits Available A Message from OCDOH Regarding Positive COVID At Home Results COVID Rapid Tests for Distribution in School DistrictsThe rapid COVID test kits provided by NYSDOH will be in district late this afternoon and ready for subsequent distribution to our families by tomorrow. If you are interested in obtaining a Rapid Test Kit for your child(ren), please note the following: Test kits have been provided for distribution of one kit per student in grades K-12. A Message from OCDOH: Positive Home Test for COVID-19? Take a photo of the positive test! If your family lives in Ontario County and your child has tested positive with an at home test for COVID-19, you will need documentation for school. Please complete our HIPAA-compliant, electronic Self Reporting Form and then: Keep your child at home for 10-days from the first symptom. No symptoms? Keep the child at home 10-days from the date of the positive test. Keep all unvaccinated close contacts home for 10-days from their last unmasked contact with your child. Wear a mask if you have unvaccinated people in your home and do your best to stay 6-feet away from them. Vaccinated contacts who don't have symptoms, don't need to quarantine, but should mask while around other people for two weeks. Pick up the phone when the NY State Investigator or Contact Tracer calls you. It will look like an unknown number and will be from a 518 Area Code. Consent to a quick interview, ask questions, and try to do what they advise. If you live outside of the County please visit your local health department’s website to report your positive test. COVID-19 SELF REPORTING FORM: https://www.ontariocountyny.gov/covidselfreport Thank you in advance for your support of our efforts to continue to offer 100% in person learning: Any child or adult who has been exposed to COVID illness or is feeling ill should please stay home. Universal masking is required. "Above the nose is how it goes." Physical distancing must be practiced. Hand washing is an important mitigation strategy to help stop the spread of germs and viruses. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions about this information or otherwise. It goes without saying that 2021 has been a tough year. If there is anything we can control to make 2022 easier and better at the POUND, we will certainly work to make it happen. Thank you for your continued support of the district and our work in advocacy for HCS students. Be safe and be well! Sincerely,E.
