2020-21 End of Year Celebration and Gratitude Good Afternoon,On behalf of the Honeoye Central School District, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the HCS community for its support and partnership during the 2020-21 school year. This year taught us that "life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, rather it is about learning to dance in the rain." At HCS, when COVID "whispered that we may not withstand the storm, we whispered back, we are the storm."The entirety of our educational community came together this year to provide HCS students with the best possible educational experience despite extraordinary, unprecedented challenges. I have had the opportunity to observe herculean effort and heroism, compassion, and professionalism at the POUND. As Bulldogs, our faculty and staff have set the tone. They modeled the commitment, fortitude, GRIT and work ethic that our students will one day emulate. As a learning community, we all came together and executed a "mixed hybrid model of reopening" which had never been done before. We got it done. A tremendous debt of gratitude to our Board of Education, building and district level administrators, classroom teachers, counselors, psychologists, school nurse, bus drivers, facilities crew, food service staff, clerical and support staff, and of course, to our students and their families. As you are likely aware, we have a significant number of Bulldogs who are launching the next voyage in the journey of their lives. It is only fitting that we pay honor and tribute to each of our retiring Bulldog Champions. I might note that the combined time of service for our retirees spans not simply decades… but centuries! Please join me in congratulating and thanking our 2021 retirees: Jane Alden, Secondary Art Teacher Cheryl Burgess, Transportation Department Karen Emmerling, Secondary PE Teacher Kip Gillen, Transportation Department Michelle Hodgeman, Family and Consumer Science Teacher John Lacitignola, Secondary Library Media Specialist Sheila Lowe, Food Service Cook Manager Sheila Malloy, Secondary Special Education Teacher Elin Orman, Elementary Teacher Margaret Schuster, Academic Intervention Support Teacher Patricia Shaver, Clerical Staff Paul Shaver, Teaching Assistant KB Storm, Elementary PE Teacher Tim Williams, Secondary Art Teacher Grace Wood, Instrumental Music Teacher A new school year brings with it the promise of renewal – a return to life outside of the contextualization of COVID. I am excited to continue on the journey with you and could not be more proud or honored to serve as a BULLDOG. With deepest and sincerest gratitude, wishing you a summer filled with love, laughter, tranquility, and health.Best,BridgetElizabeth Bridget AshtonSuperintendent, Honeoye Central School District8528 Main StreetHoneoye, New York 14471[email protected]On Twitter: @EBridgetAshton#bulldogpride Attached Files Retiree Tribute 2021 (3).mp4
