Travel Restrictions, Ontario County Press Release and Early Dismissal Drill Dear HCS Students, Families, and Staff,I am reaching out to share important information specific to an update released today around the current travel restrictions, an Ontario County Press Release regarding schools in our region, and about the scheduling of a required safety drill at HCS.Travel Restrictions Update In accordance with CDC guidance and after consultation with the NYSDOH regional epidemiologist, Ontario County Public Health has informed component school districts that they will NOT be issuing quarantine orders for people returning to NY from noncontiguous states/areas if the following criteria are met: The individual traveled within the United States. All International travel will still require a quarantine upon return. The individual has received the 2nd dose of their COVID-19 vaccine. The 2nd dose must have been administered more than two weeks (14 days) and less than 90 days from their return to NY date. It is anticipated that the Governor will release updated guidance specific to travel in the very near future. Please feel free to reach out to the Ontario County Department of Health (585-396-4803) with questions about this update.Ontario County Press Release, 2/25/2021For Immediate Press Release: Ontario County Leaders Urge Patience from Students and ParentsEarly Dismissal Drill ScheduledIn accordance with New York State Education Law, in addition to the four required lockdown and eight required evacuation drills, at least one early dismissal drill must be conducted each school year that is no more than 15 minutes before the normal dismissal time. HCS plans to execute the required early dismissal drill on Friday, April 30th, 2021. Students will practice a brief Shelter-in-Place drill in their classrooms and be released to vehicles or buses approximately ten (10) minutes early on this date. All other dismissal procedures will remain the same.
