NYSDOH COVID Toolkit and HCS Parent & Family University

10-2-2020

Good Afternoon:

Many thanks to everyone for their support of the Honeoye Central School District in our efforts to ensure a safe opening amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.  Overall, we could not be more pleased with how our first month has progressed despite the obvious hurdles associated with COVID-19.  It is a genuine JOY to have students in the building!

I am in absolute awe of the incredible teaching and learning that is transpiring in each and every classroom at HCS.  We currently have “in person” and “remote” learners assembled and working safely and collaboratively together in classes.  Teachers are “working their magic” and demonstrating their incredible talent as practitioners within an unrehearsed model of instruction.  We may still be working to develop a comfortable rhythm in public education amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, but teachers are making it happen, one day at a time, and have NEVER worked harder. Kudos to our HCS PreK-12 Bulldog instructional staff!

In addition to offering a celebration of teaching and learning, I am reaching out with just a few updates for you surrounding the following:

  1. The New York State Department of Health released a PreK to Grade 12 COVID-19 Toolkit this week.
  2. HCS is proud to offer Parent University in the upcoming weeks.

New York State Department of Health Pre-K to Grade 12 COVID-19 Toolkit
As you are aware, we have been operating under guidance which stipulated that any/all students experiencing possible symptoms of COVID-19 needed a lab-confirmed negative COVID test result to return to school.  The New York State Department of Health released an updated guidance this week which affords health care providers the ability to provide confirmation of an alternate diagnosis without requiring COVID-19 tests to clear students for return to school. You can access the guidance via this link. Please continue to contact Mrs. Tonkery, our HCS School Nurse, at 229-5171 X3013 or at [email protected], regarding any and all matters relating to COVID-19.

A Message from Mrs. Tonkery Surrounding the NYSDOH COVID Toolkit
Once again we have CHANGE. The most recent is a new Flowchart from The New York State Department of Health, one the Ontario County Health Department and area schools have been waiting for. This will give Health Care Providers and families more opportunity when their child is exhibiting symptoms. Please read carefully and if you have any questions, please contact me via email or office phone. We will update Parent Square so it reflects the same information in the flow charts. We appreciate your ongoing support and patience as guidance changes.
