June 12: Updates and Reminders Good Afternoon HCS Community, I hope this note finds you well… we are almost there! Just a few updates and reminders to share with you this afternoon. Class of 2020 Commencement Ceremony: Updates from Mrs. KlaehnMrs. Klaehn met with Class of 2020 students and families on June 11 to finalize plans for the 2020 Commencement Ceremony. As a result of her meeting with students and families and the discussions with the Class of 2020 Task Force, the Honeoye Central School District plans to move forward with the following plans for graduation: The previously scheduled individual ceremonies on June 15th and June 16th are CANCELLED. Our Graduation celebration will occur on June 26, as originally scheduled and take place on the soccer field. As of today (June 12, 2020), each graduate is permitted three (3) guests. All guests will be escorted to assigned seats beginning at 6:15 pm. (If this number changes, we will let you know!) Each graduate will have their bio read and receive their diploma, one at a time. Valedictorian and Salutatorian speeches will be delivered live! Each Graduate will receive scholarship or certification packets with diplomas. Graduates and parents will be escorted back to their vehicles at the end of the ceremony. Rehearsal will take place on the soccer field at 10 am on June 26th! More specific details will be shared by Mrs. Klaehn as June 26th approaches! Saturday, June 13, 2020: Senior Caravan/Cap and Gown Pickup The Class of 2020 Seniors had the opportunity to participate in a parade through town on Saturday, 6/13. The parade concluded at HCS, where Mrs. Klaehn, Class Advisors, and our PTA coordinated an incredible drive in event where students and families could be present for Cap and Gown distribution. A huge shout out to Mrs. Klaehn, Mrs. Alden, Mr. Lane, the Class of 2020 Task Force, Shanna Butler, the HCS PTA, all of our volunteers and to the HCS community sponsors who supported the coordination of this event. REMINDER: Last Day of School UpdateReminder: The last day of the school year for HCS students will be Tuesday, June 16. REMINDER: Collection of Devices and TextbooksHCS will collect all student chromebooks, textbooks and other district learning materials from all K-12 students at the Honeoye Central School District on Wednesday, 6/17, between 1:00 - 6:30 or on Thursday, 6/18, between 10:00 - 3:30 at the District Office Entrance from the Allens Hill Road district lot. Student Voice SurveyTo learn more about the experiences that students have had during the extended closure due to COVID-19, HCS will be partnering with Finger Lakes Community Schools to administer a brief survey to learners in grades 4-12. A number of schools in the region will be sharing the same survey, and we are hopeful that it will help us to support student needs as we plan for reopening in the fall. This survey is completely voluntary as well as anonymous. No one will know how individual students respond to any of the questions. As interested and willing, students are encouraged to access their HCS student email accounts and to complete the brief survey. Completion of the survey should take less than 10 minutes.
