Meeting Minutes

 

Open Meeting- 6 pm. Jeanne 1st, Matt 2nd. In attendance: Matt Gillette, Jeanne Higgins, Laura Zweig, Angie Lopez, Sara Tompkins and Chris Antalek.

Guest Speaker –**Angie Lopez, Ukulele Club – Angie came to thank the PTA for their contribution in ordering new ukuleles.  She brought a few to show/play with.

 **Christine Antalek, State Test Information – Chris presented “Changes to the 2016 Grade 3-8 Assessments – What Parents Need to Know”.  This can also be found on the engageny website.  Laura also handed out “Did You Know?” from nysape.org.

Secretary’s Minutes – Laura Zweig submitted – Accepted: Jeanne 1st, Matt 2nd.

Correspondence – Cyndi Sherman – 3 new members this month.  This brings us to 41 family memberships! (We we received 2 at the door at the Family Dance.  At the meeting, Sara Tompkins paid for her family membership.)

Treasurer’s Report – Sarah Marshall – Budget – No update.

Board of Ed and CDEP info – Matt Gillette – No information.  CDEP cancelled. BOE working on school budget.

Old Business:

  • Membership – update – 41 members (see Correspondence)
  • Nominating Committee - Jenna Flynn was nominated for Treasurer at the February meeting. We are still in need of a President, Vice President. Jeanne nominated Kate Deprez-Ransome for Secretary, Matt 2nd. Matt nominated Sara Tompkins for Teacher Representative, Jeanne 2nd. Matt is interested in continuing as Parent Representative. Voting in of new Board will be at the May HPTA meeting.
  • Roller skating – 2/19 – 53 Skaters! Spent $90.13 (pizza, chips, Capri Sun and water bottles),      Be-Mar invoice =$238.50.  Brought in $265.00 (@ $5/skater) + refreshments =$58.75.                     Net total=  -$4.88
  • Family Dance – 2/26 - Update*$400 budget, -$202.20 for paper goods, +$158. at the door (entrance fee for non-members) = -$44.20 deficit.  Laura asked if we could do something for Kristy Montgomery for the stress she encountered at the dance when the photo booth she brought malfunctioned. She did not charge the PTA for her time, but she didn’t get to enjoy the dance with her own children.  4 votes yes to give her $30 in Wegmans gift cards (in PTA’s possession).  Laura will poll the remaining Board members and follow up. 
  • Science Fair – 4/8 – Information/Registration packets went home the last week in February.
  • NYS Tax Exemption Status -Laura Zweig – update Received new tax exempt ID on 02/22/2016.  Original to Sarah Marshall (Treasurer).
  • Event Safety – Laura has secured Accident Reporting Forms.  They will be kept in the cash box.
  • Staff Appreciation Week – May 2-6 – We will need volunteers to help with breakfast/lunches and 75+ raffle items donated from area vendors and families.  Cyndi Sherman is the chairperson.
  • Ukuleles are paid for.  Check for $210 to HCS (Barb Overfield) on 3/8/16.

 

 

 

New Business:

  • Drug Prevention Night – Coming soon! Laura is working with Vanessa Crans, Prevention Educator from Council on Alcohol and Addictions of the Finger Lakes.  Date and information to follow.

     

    Other Business:

  • Laura will discuss with Mike Bastian and David Bills the need for a PTA President.  Perhaps another letter will be sent to families of elementary students.

 

  • Next Meeting – Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 6 pm. April Guest Speaker to be announced.
