Meeting Minutes

 

Open Meeting – 6:01 pm.  In attendance: Laura Zweig, Jeanne Higgins, Kate Deprez Ransom, Janelle Deal, Sarah Marshall, Cyndi Sherman, Kristy Montgomery and Sara Tompkins.

Secretary’s Minutes – Laura Zweig submitted. Approved – 1st Sarah, 2nd Janelle

Correspondence – Cyndi Sherman – 41 memberships and counting.

Treasurer’s Report – Sarah Marshall – Budget. Starting balance=$2334.77, ending balance=$2236.15.

Board of Ed and CDEP info – Matt Gillette absent. BOE is working on next year’s school budget.  CDEP has not met in a few months.

Old Business:

  • Membership – update.  Sara Tompkins joined at the meeting. 
  • Nominating Committee - Jenna Flynn was nominated for Treasurer at the February meeting. We are still in need of a President, Vice President. Kate Deprez-Ransome was nominated for Secretary and Sara Tompkins was nominated for Teacher Representative at March meeting. Matt is interested in continuing as Parent Representative (not a formal National PTA seat, so Matt is able to stay on in this position). Voting in of new Board will be at the May HPTA meeting. Discussed different options.  Laura will work on this!  (POST MEETING NOTE:  All positions are filled with Nominees as of 4/20/16!! Tammy Smith - President, Carole Drake – VP, John Cheer – Recording Secretary, Kate Deprez Ransom – Corresponding Secretary, Jenna Flynn – Treasurer and Sara Tompkins – Teacher Rep. Matt Gillette will continue as the Parent Rep to the BOE.)
  • Science Fair – 4/8 – 27 projects with 30 students! Honeoye Robotics and Honeoye Lego Robotics will also attend. Mr. Dalmat and HS Science students will also present. Donations will be taken at the door for Golisano Children’s Hospital.  We are in need of Bake Sale items.  Bake Sale to benefit Honeoye Robotics Club.
  • Staff Appreciation Week – May 2-6 – We will need volunteers to help with breakfast/lunches and 75+ raffle items donated from area vendors and families.  Cyndi Sherman is the chairperson. Janelle will supply Cyndi with a list of staff.

     

    New Business:

  • Drug Forum – Tuesday, April 12 from 7-8 pm in the Auditorium, Grades 6-12 and any District Parents
  • Bulldog Stickers – will HPTA purchase for Primary grades (K-2) for positive behaviors? Motion- 1st Jeanne, 2nd Sarah $151. Unanimous.  Carried
  • Prizes for Anti-Bullying Poster contest – will HPTA supply? Motion to spend $200 – 1st Janelle, 2nd Cyndi.  Unanimous. Carried.
  • Insurance Premium increased to $275 (from $235) due mid-April online. (No paper bill.)
  • Disbanding the PTA… (Without a President and Vice President, this is our only option.) Laura added this to the Paw Print and will send a letter home in backpacks if Paw Print does not prove effective.
  • Kristy Montgomery asked if the PTA if we would like McDonald’s toys for raffle items for Teacher Appreciation (she works at McDonald’s and can get them). 

 

Other Business:

 

  • Laura will add to the PAW Print for May that we have Spirit Wear items for sale (on hand).
  • Next Meeting – Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 6 pm, Guest Speaker will be David Bills, presenting the proposed School Budget.
